FAMILY GROUP PLAN.
In a Family Group Plan, students could potentially receive a larger payout than they would from an Individual Plan because:
- Plans with the same year of eligibility pool their income;
- Qualified students share income left by plans that close before their maturity date;
- Qualified students share income left by students who don’t qualify for all three education assistance payments *; and
- Qualified students may receive additional amounts at the discretion of The International Scholarship Foundation (The ISF).*
* DISCRETIONARY PAYMENTS ARE NOT GUARANTEED. You should not count on receiving a discretionary payment. The ISF decides if they will make a payment in any year and how much the payment will be.
There are options for students who don’t qualify for Education Assistance Payments under a Family Group Plan:
- You may transfer to a Family Individual Plan. The transfer must occur prior to the original student's 19th birthday or before the Family Group Plan agreement matures, whichever occurs first. Transfer requests must be submitted in writing to USCI prior to July 1st of the maturity year, otherwise your agreement will remain in a Family Group Plan. Once a transfer request has been received, USCI will send you a transfer package to be completed and returned by July 31st. For more information on transferring your Group Plan, please click here.
- You may designate a new student on the plan. The new student does not have to be a relative. However, in order to keep grants that may already be in the plan, the new student must be a sibling of the current student and under 21 years of age.
THE CLASSIC PLAN.
If you opened a USC Plan prior to 2000, there's a good chance you subscribed to the Classic Plan, our cornerstone plan for many years. Sales of this plan ceased shortly after the introduction of the Family Plan, but it is still fully serviced and supported by USCI.
